TCVM is Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. How do Chinese herbs apply to animal treatment?
Our products have been veterinarian tested and are formulated from safe botanical extracts that have been proven in thousands of years of use in China. Dr.Yan adjusts the formulas so that pets could be treated generically, without the need for personal examination. The result was her production of a range of effective Chinese herbal remedies which can be used for the treatment of animals.
What is the difference between TCVM and WVM (Western Veterinary Medicine)?
Generally, the goals of TCVM and WVM are the same, both hopes to promote health and to prevent disease, they are merely two different ways of looking at the world, and each system has its own strengths and weaknesses. Western medicine deals well with acute diseases and can utilize advanced surgical techniques. TCVM can be beneficial for chronic diseases. Especially, those Western medicines can only partially control, but not cure the diseases. TCVM is highly beneficial for identification of potential problems and is a preventative therapy. The therapeutics of TCVM can avoid some of the deleterious side effects of Western drugs. TCVM practitioners seek to discover the true basis of the disorder that is affecting the animal, not just how to suppress the symptoms. Eliminating the symptoms is the goal of WVM when the definitive causative agent or problem cannot be identified. Correcting the imbalances of the body allows the animal to heal itself. TCVM is gaining more and more recognition by traditional veterinary professionals.
I have some medicine from my veterinarian. Do I need to stop using this before I use herbal products?
Our products are mild and can be used in combination with medicines prescribed by your veterinarian with no interference. Use of our herbal formulas can decrease the side effects of your veterinarian’s medicine and can also decrease the dosage required. Through integration of the two systems, one may take advantage of the strengths of each, while minimizing the weaknesses. Practitioners who are able to bridge the mental gap between Eastern and Western medicine may find that this combination brings better results that either one alone. In addition, when veterinarians practice traditional Chinese meditation exercise, those who understand and practice TCVM believe in helping an animal to heal by correcting imbalances in the body.
